Laughter Yoga is a practice based on voluntary laughter. Classes typically start with breathing exercises and warm up stretches to relax the body and mind. Special guided techniques then help you to start laughing. When done in a group, the laughter soon becomes genuine and is highly contagious.
Good to Know
Expect elements of childlike play and be ready to let go and get caught up in silliness.
Who's it for?
This is a brilliant way to dissolve stress and give yourself a mood lift, but you do need to just go with it. Great for anyone who takes themselves a bit too seriously.
Laughter Yoga was started by Dr Madan Kataria in the 90s, in search of a way that laughter could be prescribed to patients who sorely needed its benefits.
