Sivananda yoga is a peaceful and unhurried practice. Classes are slow paced, but flowing, including the same 12 poses (or variations of them) in each class. Sivananda is based on the philosophy that proper breathing, relaxation, diet, exercise and positive thinking work together to form a healthy, yogic lifestyle.

Good to Know

Classes open and close with chanting and meditation.

Sivananda Ashrams operate around the world, offering popular yoga retreat programmes all year round.

Who's it for?

Sivananda Yoga will appeal to you if you're looking for a slow, gentle practice for physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

Origins

Swami Vishnudevananda brought Sivananda Yoga to the West in the late 50s. Now one of the world's largest schools of yoga, Sivananda has centres and Ashrams all across the globe.
