Yogalates is a fusion of yoga and Pilates. Some poses look and feel like yoga, while others are key ingredients of a Pilates class. Movements are fluid and there's a focus on breathing as well as the transition from one pose to the next. You'll move your body into a pose, then do toning exercises rather than hold a static position.

Good to Know

You'll probably do a good deal of abs work.

Yogalates is not a spiritual discipline.

Who's it for?

With its promises of of core strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone, this attracts anyone looking for a modern practice.

Yogalates was devised by Jonathan Urla in 1997.
