My interest in yoga began with studies in Sport and Exercise science in Edge Hill University. I completed my yoga teacher training in Hatha Yoga with the International Sivananda Vedanta Ashram of Yoga in Neyyar Dam India in 2009. Having practicing yoga for many years I have drawn much inspiration from great yoga teachers from other body mind practices and from my own journey. I have learned to work with the energy of the heart chakra centre using it to help balance out actions that are motivated by kindness and a connection to the web of life as against those which are merely self-serving. My classes incorporate a blend of flowing movements following the breath combined with holding the asanas and going deeper for more inner awareness. Beginner’s classes are based on an understanding and practise of the basic hatha yoga postures and the breath to open and align the body and mind. In teaching I combine compassion and concern for the individual with a scientific knowledge of how the human body functions. After a long time of yogic practice my knowledge is grounded in experience backed by theoretical knowledge. I am very excited to be offering yoga classes and open up to the experience of working from the heart.
